Paperwork can be scary.
Death. Any day can be your last, but the National Museum of Funeral History in Houston, Texas, has general information on these documents. Paperwork doesn’t have to be scary. They give a few helpful resources written in 2022. It may make us uncomfortable to think about no longer being here, but it can happen anytime.
My goal in this post is to get you to think about your documents, which your family will use after you are gone. Think about this now before something happens. My grandmother on my dad’s side passed away without a will, and it was tough on her kids to sort things out. These documents make it easier for your loved ones to sort out your business.
Do you want to be buried or cremated?
Who do you want to come to your funeral?
Do you even want to have a service?
Do you have a will?
If you are in the hospital and unconscious, who makes the decisions for you?
So, who is the NMFH?
“Since 1992, the National Museum of Funeral History has been an educational experience like no other and offers something for everyone. Tour 30,500 square feet of exhibit space with the largest display of funeral service memorabilia.”
So do your best with your family and get professional help if you need to sort out your documents. Hopefully, this will help start some discussions, and you can cross it off your to-do list.
